Matthew brings a maker's mindset to his work as a software engineer, musician, and visual artist. With nearly two decades of programming experience, he is the founding Head of Engineering at an early-stage insurance startup, where he's building the MVP and shaping the engineering culture and product from the ground up. Through his studio, Comet Labs, he also partners with teams as a consultant to ship iOS apps, Rails/Next.js backends, and design-forward marketing and portfolio sites.

Previously, Matthew led development on the TrainingPeaks iOS app, where his Swift and React Native work was featured at WWDC 2023 in collaboration with Apple on the WorkoutKit API. His technical background spans Swift, iOS, Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, Node.js, and GraphQL, informed by leadership roles at Northwestern Mutual and as a founding engineer at Franchisely.

Away from keyboards, Matthew maintains a spirited beer-league hockey career and regularly tests the limits of good judgment on fixed-gear bikes. He infrequently plays ambient shows around Denver and continues amassing and DJing far too many vinyl records. Other hobbies: skiing, reading, wandering around with a film camera, and recursively collecting hobbies.
